British Gas

Fuel Poverty Area Based Schemes: Warm Up North. The government plans to make all homes energy efficient by 2020. In order to achieve this they need the help of local authorities and the energy suppliers.

Orckid worked with British Gas during the procurement stages to win 'bids' to partner with the different local authorities.. Their Fuel Poverty Team has been successful in becoming the Green Deal and ECO service provider to 8 (potentially 10) Councils, in the North East of England.

Orckid developed a graphic identity - the framework embraces the Warm Up North logo lockup and allows the respective council logos to be displayed as a collective and with equal prominence across a variety of touch point materials.

Orckid developed a set of graphic brand architecture, creating a visually striking identity specific to the North East. Establishing colour pallets, typefaces and key imagery/graphics to create an individual look and feel, while being mindful of the British Gas master-brand.

Orckid are working with PR and other relevant agencies to ensure brand guidelines are adhered to.

A portfolio of collateral was developed to support the scheme:

  • Strategic creative presentation and style guide
  • Multi-purpose website targeted at both local authorities and residence
  • Series of collateral to educate residence on the products available to save money
  • OOH Advertising: billboards, posters, bus-stop graphics to raise residence awareness
  • Radio advertising - preparing scripts, identifying and recruiting appropriate 'voice' for voice over
  • Referral Cards
  • Series of B2B exhibition stands aimed at local authorities with a toolkit to support the events. e-invites driving professionals to the stands
  • Internal comms: stationery, PPT templates
  • Polo shirts, vehicle livery and mugs

The success of the area based schemes, such as Warm Up North, has helped British Gas secure further contracts with councils and local authorities across the UK to help communities out of fuel poverty.

Orckid developed a series of campaigns:

  • Glow Cornwall: Endorsed by Cornwall Council
  • Heataborough: Endorsed by Peterborough Council
  • Northamptonshire Energy Saver: Endorsed by Northhampton Council

Colour pallets were established and typefaces and key imagery/graphics explored to create a distinctive graphic framework, individual to each region. These new identities were translated across a series of collateral to support and raise awareness of the schemes.
